Chicago: Home of House at The Catacombs

Chicago is the Mecca for House music. Conceived in bedrooms and basements from the minds of Black and Latino youth on Chicago’s south and west sides, the energy, the music, and the dance built the critical foundation that became Chicago House. The scene was inclusive, eclectic and historic. This local invention is now an international movement influencing everything from Detroit Techno to electronic dance music (EDM) to pop and rock remixes. This installation will be popping up at the gorgeous Epiphany Center for the Arts (201 S. Ashland).

Presented by Epiphany Center for the Arts, the Design Museum of Chicago, Connect Gallery, The Silver Room, City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, The Vintage House Show on WNUR and The Modern Dance Music Research and Archiving Foundation. This exhibition builds on the foundation of Move Your Body: The Evolution of HOUSE Music in 2015 at the Chicago Cultural Center, designed by Schedler Brennan Design + Consulting.
