The gallery below lists a sampling of auction items available. If you’d like to bid from a distance, or to do some early bidding, please send an email to
firstname.lastname@example.org with the bid number (for example, Bid011) as the subject and your name, contact information, and bid in the body of the email. On the day of the event, we’ll update the starting bid price to reflect the highest bidder. If it’s not bid up at the event, you’ll win!

Bid011: Vichcraft Calligraphy Workshop • This beginner calligraphy workshop, led by Jenna Blazevich, will cover the basics of pointed pen oblique calligraphy. We will work with a simplified alphabet that referenced copperplate and Spencerian styles, and we’ll also explore an additional brush pen lettering technique. Whether you’ve picked up up a calligraphy pen before or aren’t sure what one looks like, this class is for you. Jenna will go over the basics of lettering from the very beginning – how to set up your pen, dip ink, brush stokes, and write letters. At the workshop, you will receive: 1 Oblique nib holder, 1 Gillott 303 calligraphy nib, 1 Gillott 404 calligraphy nib, 1 Higgins eternal black ink pot, 1 Faber-Castell brush marker, 1 pad of marker paper, 1 pencil, custom practice alphabets, canvas tote bag, and extra surprises! Bid014: TimeLine Theater • Two tickets for a performance during their 2018–19 season. Timeline Theater is a midsize not-for-profit company located in the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago. Date and production to be determined by the winner and the donor. Starting bid: $120.

Bid021: John Gibbon Trainer sessions and Samurai Footwork • John has over 20 years of applying functional fitness concepts to both sport and daily living situations. His specialties include post-rehabilitation fitness, pre-season sport training, and using functional movement screens to assess for compensations and imbalances. After you workout, relax with some foot love from Samurai Footwork! Starting bid: $600
Bid025: Four Nights in Aspen • Bask in autumn’s glow as the leaves change color with a four-night stay at a modern, three-bedroom private condo in Aspen, Colorado. Centrally located at North of Nell, at the base of Aspen Mountain and the Gondola, the home is in walking distance to countless world-class restaurants, galleries, boutiques, and outdoor activities. Aspen is just a quick flight from Chicago, followed by a short, 10-minute taxi ride to where you’ll be staying. Dates range from September 14 through October 13. Bid026: Gary Chang Chair & Table • This one-of-a-kind table and chair were designed by Gary Chang for the Creative Ecologies installation, Learning from Hong Kong: Compact Living-a Global Phenomenon. It is part of his experiment with the extreme conditions of limited space. Starting bid: $100.
Bid027: John Massey Vision + Banners • This limited-edition book, signed and numbered by the artist, documents the life and career of John Massey, a leader in the modernist movement in American Design. Included in this package is a set of recreations of Massey’s colorful, geometric 1968 Michigan Ave banners which were displayed along State Street in August 2018. Starting bid: $200.
Bid029: Wine Sampling for 12 • PRP Wine is a wine company with over 25 years of experience here in the Chicagoland area. This experience includes a 90 minute presentation on the wines selected for the tasting plus tons of additional general wine info. The tasting is fun and educational, and the wines selected to pour are based on the host/hostesses preferences from our extensive wine program. Starting bid: $300
Bid030: Meet with Charles Adler, Co Founder of Kickstarter + DIY Enzo Mari Chair, "Sedia 1" • Charles Adler is a life-long nomad, technologist, and designer who is often found cycling, running, or trekking through the woods. In 2009, he launched Kickstarter with Perry Chen and Yancey Strickler. Since that time, Kickstarter has been the catalyst for Academy Award winning films and National Design Award-winning products. It has brought art to the desert, and has even launched a satellite, creating over 300,000 jobs and distributing over $3.0 billion to creators across every continent. After leaving Kickstarter at the end of 2013, Adler began exploring new ideas in empowering ambitious, independent creators. Lost Arts is a coworking and maker space for a community of Chicago area artists, designers, and creatives. Valid for 1 or 2 people. Will not exceed 1 hour. Expires 12/31/2019. Must be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time, and date. Any required transportation and lodging is the responsibility of the winning bidder.
This meeting is paired with a DIY chair was designed in 1974 by the Italian designer Enzo Mari and produced by the Finnish furniture brand Artek. The chair can be assembled using only a hammer. All components, nails, and instructions are included. Starting bid: $300.
Bid031: A Personalized Outdoor Arrangement • Pick out your favorite container and have it filled with an outdoor selection of plants and flowers by Callander Garden Design. They will pick up your container, fill it, and deliver the gorgeous result to you. City of Chicago only. Starting bid: $150.
Bid035: Private Cocktail Party for 20 From Chef Gloria Hafer • Enjoy a private cocktail party for 20 of your closest friends or business associates at your home on an evening to be arranged by you and Chef Gloria Hafer. You and your guests will enjoy a festive-yet-relaxed cocktail party with sophisticated and tasty hors d'oeuvres and soft drinks. (You will provide the cocktails of your choice.) Chef Gloria and her staff will treat you like royalty. Chef Hafer is an educator and heads the culinary institute for After School Matters. She was recognized by Mayor Richard M. Bid050: Framed Type Hike & Great Ideas Posters • This project comprised of 60 typographic designs celebrated the centennial anniversary of the National Park Service by engaging graphic designers to create a poster for each of the National Parks. Two framed posters will be included in this prize. Also included will be two framed posters from ChiDM's 2016 exhibit, Great Ideas of Humanity. Starting bid: $100.
