A Unique, Flexible Venue
Our space is very adaptable, accommodating events of all types and sizes, from small, informal gatherings to cocktail receptions with hundreds of guests.
Over the years, we’ve hosted large and small receptions, weddings, holiday parties, corporate seminars, comedy shows, film screenings, corporate meetings, workshops, book clubs, silent auctions, team building events, and even a marriage proposal. The space is only available within our exhibition schedule, generally April–August, and October–February.

We have no required vendors, access to a large loading dock, a liquor license, and a ton of energy. We’re always willing to work with you on the details!
At Design Museum of Chicago, we understand that teams don’t build themselves. Let us help you inspire your staff, or stay out of your hair while you tackle big challenges.
We want to help you create a memory and a story. Rotating through two major exhibitions annually, we redesign and iteratively improve our space. As one of the most unique venues in downtown Chicago, this creates a rare opportunity for your event to be one of only a handful within each exhibition.
The museum is positioned in a public location near numerous hotel and restaurant options. It is easy to get your guests to and from our wheelchair-accessible space. The CTA Red and Blue lines have stops just a few floors below, there is paid public parking on site, and we are only a short distance from many other major sources of transportation.
