Design Museum Presents: Bikes, Modernity, and Urban Landscape

  • Design Museum of Chicago 72 E. Randolph Chicago United States (map)
Photograph of magazine advertisement for a bike. Wavy lines on top of the image, and Design Museum Presents is overlaid on top of everything.

What defines urban cycling in Chicago in 2018? Join panelists from Streetsblog, CDOT, Active Transportation Alliance, and West Town Bikes to discuss the personal and civic impacts of bikes, modernity, and the urban landscape. Design Museum Presents is the first of 3 discussions focused on contemporary cycling in Chicago. Design Museum Presents is always free and open to the public.

Bikes, Modernity, and the Urban Landscape is presented in conjunction with Keep Moving: Designing Chicago’s Bicycle Culture, which explores how Chicago design shaped the American image of the bicycle and design’s ongoing influence on Chicago bicycle culture.

Keep Moving is part of Art Design Chicago, an initiative of the Terra Foundation for American Art exploring Chicago’s art and design legacy, with presenting partner The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. Additional support for this exhibition comes from The Chicago Community Trust, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and SRAM.
