Power Source: Journaling to Ignite Your Creativity. By Ken Carbone

This workshop offers a historical perspective on why keeping a journal has been essential for artists and designers. It includes practical and technical advice, visual examples, material sources, tools, demonstrations, and an assignment to jump-start journal keeping as a lifelong source of creative power.

For over forty years, Ken Carbone was the Artist-in-Residence and Co-Founder of NYC-based design company the Carbone Smolan Agency. Their work for corporate and cultural clients is internationally celebrated for its substance and style. Since 2019 he has been a Senior Advisor for the Chicago branding firm 50,000 feet and for decades used a journal as his engine for art and design.

Required materials: A pocket-size, (3.5" x 5.5"), 80 page journal. i.e. Moleskine "Art Collection," or equivalent. A selection of wet and dry drawing tools. Materials for collage are also encouraged.
